SOY CANDLES
Soy natural candles
- Soy wax, is a natural vegan wax that has an excellent scent throw and melts evenly.
- Since soy wax is made from soybeans, it is friendly to the environment because soybeans are a renewable resource.
- Soy wax contains nothing artificial, which makes it a better alternative to old-fashioned paraffin wax, which is made from petroleum oil and produces harmful by-products when burned or melted.
- Soy wax is non-toxic making it better both for the environment and our health. This is especially important if you are pregnant, have kids, or have pets, because it’s the safest option health-wise.
- Many mainstream candle brands make their candles with paraffin wax. Paraffin wax is derived from petroleum.
- It’s common to hear people complain of headaches when paraffin candles burn, but in general, this isn’t due to the scent of the wax but rather the chemicals it releases into the air. Paraffin wax releases harmful substances when burnt, which have contributed to its fall out of favor.
- Various university studies found that burning paraffin wax candles give off benzene, which is a carcinogen, that promotes the growth of cancer. Same studies found that soy wax did not give off benzene, unlike paraffin wax.
- Soy candles can last up to 2 years if they are stored properly. Some users even believe that their fragrance throw becomes stronger the longer they are stored. This may be because of the cure time for each candle. Curing means that the fragrance/essential oil and the wax have had time to bind together properly.

How to use soy natural candles
- The very first time you light the candle, it is necessary to leave it on for as long as it takes to have the largest possible melt pool for its diameter meaning leave it to melt covering the entire surface up to the edges of the container. Soy candles have "memory" and by this way it is ensured that the wax burns evenly the next times you light it.
- The correct length of the wick is what each candle needs to burn properly without creating soot. Before each burn, cut the wick to half a centimetre.
- If soot has formed on the inner surface of the container or the flame flickers and grows, extinguish the candle, let it cool and then clean it with a damp cloth. Cut the wick at half a centimetre from the surface of the candle and relight it.
- The candle when burning should be in a place protected from drafts when burning. Draughts cause uneven burning, smoking, weaken the aroma of the wax and reduce the burning time.
- Candles are dangerous to burn all the way through. Extinguish them when half a centimetre is left.
